I thought Voivod was retiring anyways.......

On a goofy side note, my favorite review of Mayhem's 'Grand Declaration of War':

"The greatest album Voivod never released."

Who thinks they should continue? Should they record new music? Without Piggy?

I'd be interested to see if they could pull it off; if they can keep making worthwhile, valid music then they should go ahead by all means, but if what they end up creating turns out to be just a pastiche of what they used to be then it'd definitely be time to call it a day.

I keep forgetting how much I love Voivod; from the thrash/punk anarchy of 'War and Pain' right through to the sublime 'Angel Rat'.

I just need to get a copy of 'Killing Technology' and my collection will be complete (enough).

When I hear them live and mix that with the music Dan makes with Martyr I guess we will get World War 4 & 5 Wink

Does any of you guys ever listen to Martyr? It's complex and loud.

Nothing against Piggy anyway, because he was a great musician and a very nice person. I'm sure he's in his multiverse right now.

I don't want to be the partypooper here, but I feel that releasing new music of Voivod without Piggy is sacrilegious. They better start a new project under a new name instead of trying to continue music that was in great part written by Piggy. If they just tour and play stuff of the old albums, then it is a tribute to their friend, but new music...

I don't know... I guess I must keep that option open.

I agree with this.

Maybe I missed something, but I never cared much for Voivod. I even saw them live, back in 1990. They, quite simply, made my head hurt.

Well, there are a lot of band who had to quit years ago when you point it that way. Metallica after CB as example...

Mayhem, after Dead died. ... I mean, Euronymous.

They should have. After Master of Puppets no Metallica album has sounded decent anyway...
